Hedera
Art Direction
Hedera is an alternative rock band based out of Southern New Jersey. The group takes their name from the scientific name for common ivy, which represents the group’s analog (organic) approach, and from the typographic symbol, which symbolizes storytelling through song.
The logo was designed as an alteration of the traditional hedera fleuron. The key art was made by dripping paint over boxes in a style known as tall painting and then photographed up close. Five colors were used to represent the band’s five members and illustrate how their individual skills and ideas interact to create something new and beautiful.
The group’s first full length release, “Helix” was released on BandCamp, iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify on October 22, 2016. Along with the album artwork, a social media campaign was launched on Facebook, Instagram, and Bandcamp to promote the album release. A music visualizer depicting the process used to make the album artwork was released to promote the single “Missing Yesterday”.
